I was seventeen, the world was mine
Summer days, the sun would shine

And you were there in my song each night
But the leaves turned gold, and time moved on
We found a house and made a home
Baby, life rolls like a train…
Lead: Yeah, things change… Choir: Things change…
Chorus
Lead: But my Jesus… He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever
Choir: Yesterday, today, forever…

Verse 2
Kids grow up, the nights get quiet
Bills to pay, and prayers beside us
Joy can live right next to tears

A time to rise, a time to fall
You can’t hold back the tides and waves…

Story Behind the Song – Things Change
Years ago, when Rosemary and I were newlyweds, we heard an old preacher deliver a message titled “Things Change.” His words stuck with me. He spoke about the way life moves through seasons — youth and energy, middle age and responsibility, gray hair and wisdom — and how, in every stage, one truth remains: God never changes.
Ecclesiastes 3 tells us, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” We all pass through those times — moments of joy and moments of sorrow, times to plant and times to reap, times to build and times to rest. In every stage, the world around us changes… and so do we.
But Hebrews 13:8 declares, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Numbers 23:19 reminds us that God is not a man that He should lie — if He said it, you can build your life on it. And Isaiah 46:4 promises that even when our hair turns gray, He will carry us, sustain us, and rescue us. Psalm 56:8 says He knows every tear we’ve shed and keeps them in His bottle.
Things Change is a love song to God’s faithfulness, sung with the tenderness of an Elvis gospel ballad and the strength of a gospel choir echoing back the truth. It walks through the stages of life, gently reminding us that no matter the season, we can trust Him completely.
It’s for the young couple starting out, the parents raising children, the grandparents watching over a growing family — and for every believer who has ever seen time pass and wondered what will remain. The answer is this: God remains.
Life moves through seasons — youth, midlife, gray hair, and beyond. Things change. But God never does.
He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
Even when our hair turns gray, He will carry us (Isaiah 46:4).
This song is a journey through life’s stages with one unshakable truth — you can trust Him in every season. 🎶
Seasons shift, people change… but the God who loves you never will
